Friday Favorite: Dorm Room Storage Solutions

  3. Friday Favorite: Dorm Room Storage Solutions

Now is the time when college kids are dreaming up their dorm room living quarters. Living in the tight space of a dorm requires you to think creatively to maximize storage. If things aren’t  organized, chaos can take over the tiny space quickly. Now is the time to help your college bound student find ways to fit what they need in their room. Here’s one item I remember using long ago in my dorm to get all the little odds and ends to fit, it’s the Closetmaid Wall and Door Rack. These racks can be attached to a wall or the back of the door (check to make sure that you can attach things to the walls before drilling any holes). If you can’t attach it to a wall, there are also over the door racks that work great and don’t require any holes. They come in a variety of sizes, from a simple two shelf rack to a full size 8 shelf rack. The best thing about these shelves is that they only take up 4″ of depth in a closet and they maximize the vertical space.

Another great solution is this dorm shelving unit that can help to maximize space and keep plenty of “things” close by. The shelves are adjustable and it comes with a detachable shelf, beverage holder and hooks. It’s a great item to add to your dorm for extra storage and organization. Paying attention now to the little things that can make dorm life easier will help to encourage a successful year ahead.
