Create an Organized Morning Routine

  3. Create an Organized Morning Routine

One of the best ways to establish good organization is to create routines. When we create habits to get things done and stick with the same routine, we become more efficient and productive. How you begin your day, can have an impact on how the rest of it rolls out. So why not get out of bed on the right foot and bring your A-game each day. Here are a few ideas to help create a morning routine:

Plan Ahead: The absolute key to getting things done in your day is to have a plan. Create a list the night before of all the things you’d like to accomplish the next day.

Sleep Enough: It may sound cliche, but good sleep really matters. If you want to have a productive day, proper rest allows your brain to function at it’s best. If you feel sluggish, you just won’t have the determination to persevere through the details of what you don’t really love to do.

Get in the Habit: When you create the same morning ritual each day, those small habits can have a big positive impact on your life. Decide what you want your morning routine to look like and get your plans in action. Some things to think about having on your list: meditation/quiet time, make bed, exercise, shower, laundry, kitchen upkeep, trash out, pet/kid time, etc…

Decide What Matters Most: In the morning, circle the three top priorities that are non-negotiable. From there you can cross off other items on the list as time permits, but force yourself to barrel through those three must-do’s.

Corral the Kiddos: Yes, kids can definitely cause the chaos that can hamper any routine. The key is to allow some flexible time knowing there will be distractions with the kids around. Remember, they too like a routine they can count on, so establishing daily habits with them will also help keep your morning routine running smooth.

Don’t expect to make big changes immediately.  We can only make small intentional changes incrementally. If we try to make changes too quickly, they are usually not sustainable. So decide now how to best start the day tomorrow.
